We were inspired, this was the lifestyle change we’d talked about! Whenever we’d gone on holidays, we’d always chosen places with mariners or boating holidays and we both loved the idea of moving to the SA1 docklands.
New Community
Enough people have already moved in to start forming a new and friendly community. We’re all similar ages, and there are coffee mornings, quiz nights, murder mystery nights, theatre and shopping trips if you fancy a bit of company.
The local supermarket Sainsburys, is so close, I’ve got no need to fill a freezer at home. Strolling a little further we can walk around the marina taking in the boats and out along the bay.
A regular port of call is the new library at County Hall where we also enjoy a coffee before strolling home. This new lifestyle is all about decisions... where shall we have coffee today? Where shall we go for lunch? When it comes to a relaxing retirement, we both confess to never having been so busy! Living so close to the Village Inn has its benefits too, with reduced price gym and pool membership, a lovely coffee shop and their new ‘local’, The Victory Bar.
Security
Another thing that we both feel important about is the security we have at Mariners Court, the door and window locks and the design of the development which recently gained a Secured By Design Award – the first privately funded scheme in Wales to do so. What this means in reality is that we feel confident in being able to go on holiday and not worry about what we’ll find when we get back. Not that we have been victims of crime in the past, but because fear of crime is always a lot higher than actual crime.
Moving home is never easy, but we are full of praise for the help we have had from the team at Inspirational Living. For a new build, we’ve been surprised at how quiet it is, sound insulation is excellent, we virtually don’t hear the neighbours at all. Peter can sit on his patio with a chilled glass of wine and watch their caretaker Keith doing all the gardening!
